आशुलिपि की गति बढ़ाने के बहुत से तरीके हैं किन्तु यहाँ हम कुछ महत्वपूर्ण तरीकों को बताएँगे। प्रत्येक अभ्यर्थी अपनी रूचि और जरुरत के अनुसार उनको अपना सकते हैं।
शुरुआत में अभ्यर्थियों को डिक्टेशन लिखते समय शब्दों को समझने में बहुत समय लगता है, कि इसे कैसे लिखा जाय। ऐसे अभ्यर्थी एक डिक्टेशन को 4 से 5 बार लिखें। डिक्टेशन रोजाना लिखें और छोटे-छोटे डिक्टेशन लिखें।
डिक्टेशन लिखते समय वाक्यांशों का प्रयोग बढ़ाएं। कठिन शब्दों और वाक्यांशों का शब्दकोष तैयार कर इनको लिखने का अलग से अभ्यास करें।
डिक्टेशन लिखने के लिए नई-नई शब्दावली से सम्बंधित पैसेज का चयन करें। हर नई शब्दावली से सम्बंधित पैसेज ही आपकी आशुलेखन गति सुनिश्चित करती है।
डिक्टेशन गति के अंतराल को धीरे-धीरे बढ़ाएं। हमेशा एक सटीक गति से बोले जाने वाले डिक्टेशन से ही अभ्यास करें।
हर डिक्टेशन का लिखकर या टाइप कर अनुवाद जरूर करें।
डिक्टेशन लिखते समय शांत वातावरण एवं मन एकाग्र होना जरुरी है।
रेखाओं की औसत लम्बाई कम करके भी कुछ हद तक स्पीड बढ़ाई जा सकती है, किन्तु ज्यादातर अभ्यर्थियों को इसमें असुविधा होती है। इस प्रकार की लेखनी दुविधा भी पैदा करती है।
