प्रतिदिन नियमित 4 से 5 डिक्टेशन का अभ्यास करने व आशुलेखन गति बढ़ाने के लिए बताये गए तरीकों के द्वारा 2 माह में आशुलिपि गति निश्चत रूप से 80 शब्द प्रति मिनट हो सकती है। इस दौरान आशुलेखन में वाक्यांशों का समावेश भी बढ़ाते रहें।
80 शब्द प्रति मिनट गति के डिक्टेशन की अच्छी तैयारी करने के उपरांत आपको 85 शब्द प्रति मिनट एवं 90 शब्द पर मिनट की गति के डिक्टेशन से भी तैयारी करनी चाहिए, ताकि परीक्षा के दिन 80 शब्द प्रति मिनट की गति से बोले जाने वाले डिक्टेशन को आसानी से लिख सकें। क्योंकि परीक्षा के दौरान अभ्यर्थी पर परीक्षा पास करने का मानसिक दबाव होता है, जिसकी वजह से वह परीक्षा में अच्छी गति से डिक्टेशन नहीं लिख सकता। इसके अलावा परीक्षा में अनभिज्ञ शब्दों को भी आसानी से लिख सकेंगे।
डिक्टेशन का अनुवाद करना डिक्टेशन लिखने से भी कहीं ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि डिक्टेशन लिखने का मकसद तब तक पूरा नहीं होता जब तक कि उसका अनुवाद न किया जाए। शॉर्टहैंड में लिखे गए डिक्टेशन का अनुवाद यदि तुरंत न किया जाए तो बाद में अभ्यर्थी उसे स्वयं भी नहीं पढ़ सकता। साथ ही शॉर्टहैंड का तुरंत अनुवाद न करने से अभ्यर्थी अपनी अशुद्धियों का आंकलन भी नहीं कर सकता। इसलिए नियमानुसार शॉर्टहैंड में लिखे गए गद्यांश का तुरंत अनुवाद कर देना चाहिए। परीक्षा की तैयारी के लिए भी इसी प्रक्रिया को अपनाना चाहिए।
