Stenography is the best option to develop a career. Because it gives the opportunity to get a job. In this article, we are telling the importance of stenography in terms of career.
Stenography is a fast writing method that uses symbols and signs. This method is called “Shorthand”. In Hindi, this method is called “Ashulipi”. This method is used by reporters and stenographers to write a speech at high speed and then it is transcribed and typed in the same language. Shorthand or stenography is not a language but a script only. Pitman shorthand is prevalent in English stenography. Rishi system and Singh system of shorthand are prevalent in Hindi. Here is a example of some Shorthand writing.
How to Learn Stenography?
Stenography course is a limited and very short course. Which can easily be learned in any shorthand learning centre or institute. One year diploma course in Hindi and English can be done by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) in India. This course can be done from any government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) or Polytechnic institutes. “Stenoguru” is also going to start Stenography/shorthand learning course in Hindi and English very soon.
How to master in Stenography?
To master in stenography, you should include as many words short sign and phrases as possible in writing shorthand. Other than this, Regular Shorthand writing practice is very important after learning stenography, which will increase your shorthand speed. During the course period, you are learned the method and rules of writing shorthand. After that, your shorthand speed increases will regular dictation practice. After learning stenography, you can master in shorthand speed by joining Stenoguru’s dictation course.
Stenography for betterment of Career
There are many career or job opportunities in the field of stenography. After learning stenography, job of reporter and stenographer can be obtained in government departments. Apart from government departments, unlimited opportunities are also available in this field in the private sector as well.
In the US, UK, other European countries where English language is used, there are career opportunities in stenography. Apart from this, there are many career opportunities in stenography in African countries as well. There are unlimited opportunities for stenography career in Asia in countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Japan etc.
In India, thousands of posts of Hindi and English stenographers are recruited every year in various government departments. Most of these recruitments are done by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), which are appointed on the posts of Stenographer Grade B, Stenographer Grade C, Stenographer Grade D and Stenographer Grade A in various departments of the Central Government.
Stenographer Recruitment Process
For appointment to the post of Stenographer, the candidate has to clear the written examination. After this there is a skill test of shorthand speed. In which the proficiency of writing shorthand in a specified speed is assessed.
Dictation is spoken at a specified speed in the skill test. Which the candidate has to write in shorthand. After this, the dictation written in shorthand has to be transcribed through the application and typed in the same language in which the dictation was spoken. Shorthand skill test is a qualifying test that the candidate has to clear must.
